The Kokomo Automotive Museum Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, governed by a Board of Directors.
Think about the impact that automobiles have had on American industry and culture. For some, the automobile represents a manufacturing livelihood. In Kokomo, IN where the museum is located, generations of families made their living by working at Chrysler or Delco. This once automotive town, tagged as the "City of Firsts," is home to Elwood Haynes, who along with the Apperson Brothers, built America’s first gasoline-powered car in 1894.
For many, the automobile re-ignites special memories like hanging your head out of the back window of your Pop’s ’68 Chevy, or cruisin’ the main drag with your convertible top down and your girl by your side. Maybe it’s the family vacation to the Grand Canyon in your ’73 Buick station wagon. Perhaps you can recall the rumble of the exhaust as a GTO raced down your street. Whatever memories you have of years gone by, we’re sure there’s a certain car or truck that brings back a special time in your life and one like it might very well be on display at the Kokomo Automotive Museum!
In addition to the more than 100 classics, those who appreciate vintage advertising, clothing and antiques will enjoy the great collection of signage and variety of memorabilia relevant to the history of the cars on display. Step back in time and enjoy the 50s diner and service station diorama. A gift shop offers a variety of souvenirs to mark your day in Kokomo.
