Statement of Purpose
The Culinary Arts Museum at Johnson & Wales University is a teaching museum that preserves and interprets culinary and hospitality heritage, a major focus of the university, to encourage academic success and public enjoyment.
To deliver this mission at the highest level of quality, the museum will:
- Apply its resources to meet the academic and professional needs of students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the community at-large.
- Enrich academic programs with experiential and work-integrated learning opportunities that celebrate the museum's material culture through story-based exhibits and special events.
- Use the teaching collection to encourage scholarship and offer programs that maximize student potential by embracing hands-on learning using a cross-disciplinary approach.
- Utilize the strengths and innovations in the museum field to continuously improve and plan for a sustainable future; balance a cost-conscious approach with best museum practices in order to be good stewards of our resources.
