Just a few miles northwest of downtown Berlin you will find one of the newest additions to the state park system. Jericho Mountain State Park provides opportunities for miles of trail riding for ATV, UTV, trail bike, and snowmobile enthusiasts alike. Throughout the park, visitors are treated to a number of scenic outlooks. Park guests can also enjoy swimming, fishing, canoeing and picnicking at Jericho Lake. The park also includes a 20 site ride-in/ride-out campground, cabins, a bathhouse and Visitors Center.
Jericho Mountain State Park 4x4 Off Road Trail
This is the first 4x4 Jeep/Truck trail, on public lands, in the Northeast! The trail is 2.5 miles long and is estimated to take 3.5-5 hours to complete. Vehicles enter through the main parking area at the Visitor Center on Jericho Lake Road. Cost is $20 per vehicle (up to 2 occupants) and $4 for each additional person. Vehicles are required to have a winch, modified tires and other modifications.
The North Woods Off Road Club (NWOR) built the trail, with State approvals, and is performing the trail maintenance. The trails are open to the public during the Visitors Center hours of operation. Drivers need to check in at the Visitor Center to get the gate opened. The gate will close at approximately 5pm during the summer, to allow vehicles to get out before the park closes at night.
Camping at Jericho Mountain State Park
The campground has 20 campsites that includes 5 cabins, 4 tent sites, 2 adirondack shelters, and 9 RV sites, all served by a modern toilet and shower facility with coin-op laundry. The campground connects to the 75 miles of OHRV trails at the park, as well as connecting with the 1000 mile of trails in Coos County. The park also has a day-use area with a beach for swimming, pavilion and boat launch. Campsite fees will be $25/night, adirondack shelter is $29/night and cabin fees are $50/night. The campground is open for reservations from May 11 through November 1.
