Mission:

Iowa Dance Theatre is committed to bringing the talents of dance artists in Iowa to the attention of the general public. Through their participation in Iowa Dance Theatre productions, many talented young people, who’ve gone on to professional careers in dance, can look back on the vitally important early encouragement they received here. This is one of our most important charges. A primary goal of Iowa Dance Theatre is to produce quality performances, both artistically and technically. In doing so we create opportunities for both, skilled professional and amateur artists, to expand and develop their abilities. This process benefits not only themselves but those they work with and the community at large.Iowa Dance Theatre is committed to developing workshops and conferences throughout the year for all interested dancers and dance enthusiasts in the state. We’ve created career sustaining opportunities by hiring professional artists to perform, instruct and choreograph. Iowa Dance Theatre respects the professional artist.Iowa Dance Theatre is committed to financial responsibility. Years of experience have helped us and our supporters to develop strategies that serve  the dance community and our audience in a fiscally sound manner.Iowa Dance Theatre’s  history includes involvement with the Westminster Fine Arts Series and the Donna Reed Festival. Iowa Dance Theatre’s recent repertory includes productions of: Dracula, Peter Pan, Snow White, The Firebird and a very successful Choreographers Showcase that included modern and jazz styles in addition to ballet.
