History:

The Ionia Community Theatre (ICT), a Michigan non-profit organization, has been dedicated to the presentation of dramatic and musical productions for the Ionia community. It all started in 1966 with a small handful of drama enthusiasts that held a series of workshops, that led to the performing of three one-act plays on the stage in the third floor ballroom of the Ionia Elks Lodge. During the late 1960's and 1970's, ICT did a variety of dramatic and comedy plays. The first musical "Mr. Scrooge" was produced in 1974 at the First Presbyterian Church in Ionia. In 1981, ICT produced its first major musical "Little Mary Sunshine". Since then, a continuous string of successful musicals have been produced in Watt Auditorium, at the Ionia Middle School. ICT is committed to providing scholarship funds to graduating high school seniors pursuing the performing arts in their higher education. Since 1982, over $23,000.00 has been provided as scholarship funds to local area students. Many of those students have performed in various ICT productions
