About Us:
Indigo Mountain Nature Center is a sanctuary for captive-born wildlife, exotic and alternative pets nestled in the mountains west of Colorado Springs, Colorado. We are a 501(c)(3) federally recognized nonprofit organization dedicated to caring for animals and providing wildlife education. The sanctuary offers a last chance for a life of compassion, love, dignity and respect to unwanted, abandoned, and abused animals.
Our Mission and Goals:
Indigo Mountain Nature Center, Inc. was established to create public awareness and inspire respect for all wildlife through education, while providing a variety of specialized services to captive born wildlife, exotic and alternative pets. The organization’s principal goal is to provide a permanent sanctuary to captive-born wild or exotic animals and alternative pets who have been abused, abandoned, displaced, impounded, neglected, exploited or simply need a home.
A second primary goal is to educate the public of the plight of wildlife in an effort to prevent endangerment and extinction of entire species. This is accomplished by providing a series of lectures, interactive workshops, outreach programs and educational products designed to create awareness in the challenges facing animals. Programs discuss the increasing destruction and degradation of their natural habitats and what this means not only to the animals in question, but to the human population worldwide. Innovative conservation programs inspire personal involvement and understanding in the natural world and how to successfully live with our indigenous wildlife.
