Indian Rock Nature Preserve

501 Wolcott Road
Bristol, CT 06010

860-583-1234

The Indian Rock Nature Preserve, located at 501 Wolcott Road in Bristol, Connecticut, is ELCCT’s environmental education facility. With 280-acres of varied habitat, a lake, streams and miles of nature trails, this is where the majority of the school programs are taught and is the home of the famous Indian Rock Summer Camp. Indian Rock Nature Preserve is named after Indian Rock, a protected historic rock formation that purportedly provided shelter for the Tunxis Indians and early colonial settlers as they traveled the hunting trail which is now route 69.

Accordingly, in addition to nature programming, Indian Rock Nature Preserve also has a significant Colonial Life and Native  American program.  The trails and facilities, including two authentic wig wams, provide the perfect setting for people of all ages to learn about our natural and historic heritage.  This, coupled with a demonstration farm with an apple orchard, flock of sheep, a cow, chickens and turkeys, provides school groups, scout troupes and families the opportunity to learn about early American life and the rich history right here in Bristol, CT
