About Us
The Humble Museum displays artifacts depicting local history and heritage highlighting oil, cattle, lumber, churches and everyday life in small town Humble and the surrounding area.
The Humble Museum was organized as a Bicentennial Project, and was dedicated on July 1, 1976. The original building was built on the west Side of the railroad tracks, at 111 W. Higgins Street. A Museum Society and administrative board were set up to direct operations for the museum. Through the work and efforts of the first board of directors, a charter and state approval were secured.
Local residents donated so many artifacts that the museum soon outgrew the original building. A building fund was started. Community support, interest and encouragement made it possible for the Board of Directors to purchase a building downtown Humble, located at 219 Main Street on December 3, 1985. Remodeling, restoring, decorating and furnishing the building was completed in June of 1988 and the new home of the Humble Museum was dedicated September 25, 1988.
