Patrik and Tess Barr have been making wine since 1992. Fifteen years ago they started making sparkling apple wine using the traditional methode champenoise with great success. The family moved from Washington to Hood River in 2003 where they purchased vacant farm land and planted grapes. Longtime friends had established vineyards to the East growing Merlot, Syrah and Malbec. They started with these grapes and now have sourced out what they feel are the best varietals and growers in the area to make wines from what some are calling the new Burgundy as they continue to plant more grapes of their own. Between raising a family that is now part of the winery operations, playing in the Tess Barr Blues Band and other businesses they have focused more and more of their energies to the growing success of their small "secret winery".

The Columbia Gorge AVA is so unique, as it is 40 miles of National Scenic area in the Columbia Gorge with its majestic views and waterfalls, its most famous waterfall, Multnomah Falls, the second tallest year round waterfall in the United States. It is also uniquely divided by the Columbia River into Washington and Oregon.
