The beautiful hardwood forests of Holmes County State Park are home to an abundance of wildlife, and provide the scenic backdrop for a variety of outdoor activities. Built around two lakes covering 54 acres, the park offers fishing and camping. Holmes County State Park offers easy access to the Interstate 55, which will bisect North and South Mississippi. The convenient location and diverse outdoor recreational amenities make Holmes County State Park a favorite retreat.
Developed Camping
The 28 sites available for RV camping feature picnic tables and grills, water and electrical hook-ups, and a central sewage dumping station. A bath-house with hot showers is located in the developed camping area. Smoking is not allowed in any Mississippi government building.
Picnic Area/Shelter
The Park's three picnic areas are equipped with tables and grills and afford views of the water. Two large picnic pavilions are available for reservation, providing the perfect spot for family reunions, company picnics, and church or school outings.
Boat Launching
Holmes County State Park offers two fishing lakes, both well-stocked with bass, bream, and catfish. English Lake is equipped with a boat launch. Odom Lake has no boat launch area.
Fishing
Holmes County State Park offers two fishing lakes, both well stocked with bass, bream, and catfish. Fishing is permitted with a fee. A Mississippi fishing license is required for all persons between the ages of 16 and 65. Licenses may be purchased from the park office for a nominal fee.
