Description :

The Hellenic Cultural Museum, a "People's Museum", was dedicated on May 3, 1992. Founded and supervised by the Hellenic Cultural Association, the Museum is acknowledged to be the first authentic Hellenic cultural museum in the United States.

The museum has received awards on both the national and regional levels, and contains an acclaimed mine-exhibit. Nearly four thousand visitors toured the museum in September 2001, during the three-day annual Greek Festival.

The museum emphasizes the personal aspect of the immigrants, whose presence in Utah dates back as far as 1870. Their and their descendants' struggles, achievements, social life and tragedies are reflected through displays of clothing, costumes, artifacts, photographs, and personal histories.

The excellent video documentary, Utah's Greek Americans, produced through the joint efforts of the Hellenic Cultural Association and the Public Broadcasting Station, KUED, is available through the museum's Book Store.
