About Us
Founded in 1993 HATTheatre is a not-for-profit 501 (c) (3) production company, a member of Richmond's professional fringe theatres, with two related aims: the first is to offer Richmond audiences quality theatre, performed by the area's most talented and dedicated artists, in our intimate 70 seat black-box; an effort to connect the audience to the performers in a way larger venues cannot do.
Our second goal is to inspire minds, ignite imaginations, and unleash the creative spirit through theatre arts education for ages 5 to adult; fusing performance and life skills for all.
Located in the Far West End, the theatre features an intimate 70 seat black-box, raked seating, a small lobby, and additional studio space for rehearsals and classes. Students who take class with the theatre arts school have the opportunity to work on this stage weekly, thus gaining confidence and experience in a true theatrical venue.
"So where does the name come from, you may ask? It's not an acronym, it's a philosophy. Actors must often wear many hats, and in life, don't we all?"
