Guernsey State Park(GuSP) is a 6000 acre state park surrounding Guernsey reservoir that provides a variety of water recreation, day use and overnight camping opportunities. The rugged and scenic landscape of the park offers scenic vistas and overlooks, hiking and biking trails, rock climbing and wildlife viewing opportunities. In addition to the unlimited number outdoor recreation activities that can be found at GuSP, the park is also a national historic landmark. GuSP provides one of the finest examples of Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) work in the Rocky Mountain area. While the park has long been known as a haven for boating, camping, hiking and picnicking activities, it’s real treasure may lie in the exceptional CCC work that can be seen throughout the park. CCC projects in the project include hiking trails, bridges, roadways, overlooks and buildings. The Guernsey Museum and the “Castle” are just two of the must-see Guernsey CCC structures and facilities that can be found at this unique and beautiful park.

Playgrounds

Swimming
Guernsey State Park is beautifully situated around Guernsey Reservoir. Guernsey State Park has long been an attraction to boaters, water skiers and swimmers. Its miles of shoreline provide public access to the reservoir which is suitable for all types of water-based recreation activities.
Wildlife Viewing
Guernsey State Park is situated along the North Platte River and Guernsey Reservoir which provides a variety of habitats that are home to a wide variety of wildlife species. The park is a birders and wildlife viewing haven.
Beach
Guernsey State Park has 4 official beach areas.
Biking
Biking is allowed in Guernsey State Park on all established roadways. In addition to the roadway opportunities, Guernsey State Park has roughly 12 miles of challenging trails that are available to bikers wishing to get off the roadways.
Boating
One of the primary attractions at Guernsey State Park is the boating and water recreation opportunities. Boating enthusiasts may enjoy the 2,400 acres of Guernsey Reservoir.
Campsites For Tents & RVs
Guernsey State Park offers a variety of overnight camping opportunities. The Park has 245 designated campsites that can provide an overnight camping opportunities for those that prefer a primitive dryland experience up to those that prefer and require electrical and water hookups for their RVs or travel trailers. Some campsites are designated at reservable only from May 1 to September 30.
Hiking
Guernsey State Park has many scenic and historical trail hiking opportunities. Guernsey State Park was designed and built by the Civilian Conservation Corp in the 1930s. Part of their original design for the Park was the establishment of scenic and challenging hiking trails. There are approximately 14 miles of established historic trails still available for hiking enthusiasts at the park.
Horseback Riding
Horseback riding is permitted at Guernsey State Park.
Picnic Areas
Guernsey State Park has many areas designed and suitable for picnic outings. Picnickers may use one of our many picnic shelters or any of the many picnic tables and fire rings found throughout the park.
