The Greece Historical Society is a 501 (c) 3 not-for-profit organization, chartered in 1975 by the Board of Regents. Our purpose is to collect, research and preserve the history of the town of Greece, NY and the local area. We share it with the community through

  • Free public programs
  • Exhibits and special events at our Greece Museum
  • Tours for local school students, scouts
  • Publications, such as "Eight Miles along the Shore", a book on town history
  • Newspaper articles
  • Power Point programs for libraries, senior residences, organizations

Our all volunteer Society owns and maintains our house, once owned by Gordon A. Howe, former town supervisor and county manager. Our support comes from fund-raisers, membership dues, sales in our museum gift shop and donations. We are not part of the Town of Greece, but we do contract with them to fulfil the duties of the Town Historian, and have appointed one volunteer member, Alan Mueller, as Town Historian

The museum is open Sundays 1:30 to 4:00 pm except major holidays or by appointment.
