Great Basin National Park encompasses an area of sublime, high mountain terrain. Cold, tumbling, mountain streams, alpine lakes, 3,000+ year old Bristlecone Pine, a miniature glacier and limestone caverns are some of the attractions of this National Park. One of the best things about Great Basin is the low number of visitors. This is truly a place to get away from it all. If you come in the spring or fall you might not see anyone for hours on backcountry trails.

A short (5 mi.) drive from Baker puts you at the Park visitor center and headquarters. Tours of Lehman Caves begin right at the Visitor center. A paved scenic drive allows access to the 10,000-ft. level on 13,063 ft. Mt. Wheeler. Trailheads to the Bristlecones, glacier, lakes and summit begin here. For the more adventurous, there are more trails for most skill levels. Winter brings opportunities for cross-country skiing and snow shoeing.

Check out the aspens at Baker Creek, take in the wildflower beauty at Strawberry Creek, catch some cutthroat trout up Snake Creek or marvel at the imposing natural arch in Lexington Canyon.
