About Us:

The Gibson and Schweyen Gallery and Studio was started by Mark Gibson and Brian Schweyen. Born in Montana, both are self taught artists who wanted to take a little more control of their artistic future. They started painting about eight years ago, without the benefit of any formal training. Mark and Brian attended Montana State University on athletic scholarships and had no idea that they would someday aspire to be artists. Their talents led them into a venture as partners in an art gallery where they now sell their own work.

Mark and Brian have been painting together for the past four years and continually critique each other's work. Mark tends to paint western scenes, wildlife and most recently has taken an interest in creating intriguing Native American scenes depicting teepees. Brian enjoys painting landscapes of the west where he tries to capture the light created by his subjects. Both of these artists work with oil paints on both canvas and masonite panels. Mark and Brian use their gallery as a studio as well, and they are happy to let customers watch them at work.

The Gibson and Schweyen Gallery came about during a show where fellow Montana artist Mark Ogle and Brian Schweyen were showing their work. When Mark and Brian asked Mr.Ogle what he considered to be the most important decision in his art career, he related a story about starting up his own gallery. That was the inspiration that Mark and Brian needed, and they began looking for gallery space.
