About Us:
Fourth Street Gallery and Custom Framing opened its doors in April 2000. Located in the charming hill country town of Lampasas, Texas, the gallery is a showcase for artists and artisans from all over Texas, and from elsewhere around the United States and from Europe as well. Owner Nancy Gray, also an artist, looks for work that is unique in some way. Whether hand-blown glass from Oregon or New Orleans, a hand-carved and hand-polished table made to order of local mesquite by a Texas artisan, or a custom gate from France with the client's family history incorporated into it, Gray searches out art and objects that are as unusual as the people who buy them.
When Gray opened the gallery, she started by selling paintings, sculptures, and drawings by Texas artists. She also headquartered her own studio at the gallery, and she sold her own diverse work there. In addition, Gray sold a selection of fine jewelry, much of it handmade, and all of it chosen for its quality of design. Other gift items featured in the shop included glass, Fimo-clay objects by an artist in Arizona, and carved and inlaid wooden boxes. Many of these are still sold in the gallery, as clients have come to expect a wonderful choice of gifts at the holiday season.
Framing has always been an integral part of the business. Gray's unerring eye for color and design has helped clients find mats and frames that complement their works of art and their keepsakes. Wrapped mats, French mats, double mats, and single mats are just some of the ways in which Gray enhances her clients' artworks. A wide array of exceptional frames such as those from Larson-Juhl, Roma, J. Orr, and other fine companies allow any number of possibilities. Gray and her staff work one-on-one with the client to be sure that the client achieves just what he or she envisions for the project.
As business grew, the gallery became more of a showcase for painters and sculptors, while still retaining a selection of gift items. Rotating exhibitions of paintings, prints, drawings, and sculpture were - and are - scheduled and publicized. Openings are held, often with artists in attendance or a lecture on the program. Gray expanded the gallery's roster of artists from Texas to other states, while still maintaining a strong representation of Texas-based artists.
In 2006, in her sixth year of operation, Gray launched a new enterprise: FSG Art Consulting. This company offers a variety of services connected with providing custom art and design for home or office. FSG Art Consulting has formed a partnership with ARR Consulting, a company based in Paris, France, and can locate art and design objects from Europe as well as the United States on demand. Working with interior designers, architects, and builders as well as individual clients, FSG Art Consulting is a valuable resource for hard-to-find and unique objects.
