The Fillmore Golf Club is an 18 hole course with driving range, power cars, pro shop, restaurant and bar. This challenging course overlooks the beautiful Owasco Valley and Lake, and has been the host course for many regional golfing events including the Cayuga County Men’s and Women’s District Tournaments. The club first started as a nine hole course in 1966, when a few community leaders, with an eye for the future, created the Fillmore Recreation Association, Inc. and bought the Dave Hall farm on Tollgate Hill Road. The original course was designed by Alder Jones, and the first superintendent was Larry Fleckenstein. Phil Ranke, the present owner, took over the operating responsibilities in 1980, and has been at the helm ever since. There have been many improvements over the years, but there are always new things happening. As a note of interest, Phil’s initials are “PAR”.
