About Us
Ferndale was founded in 1852 by Seth Shaw, whose home and many other Victorian "Butterfat Palaces" are lovingly preserved by their owners.
Just five miles from 101, visiting Ferndale is like stepping back in time. And nowhere is this impression stronger than at the Ferndale Museum which preserves and exhibits the history and heritage of the area including artifacts, tools, furniture, an operating seismograph, a telephone switchboard, working crank phones, farm and logging equipment, a barber shop and a complete blacksmith shop.
Exhibits are thoroughly researched and clearly identified. They are maintained, changed and artfully displayed by museum staff and volunteers. Come sit in the old-time parlor and feel time go backwards for a while.
The museum's gift shop provides historical books, photos, bags, magnets and patches - all related to Ferndale.
