About:
Feckin Brewery is the brainchild of Mark, Gabrielle, and Dave Maher. Both Mark and Dave have home brewed for a number of years. Dave underwent his first fermentation project in Dublin, Ireland where he attempted to make wine- however it was always consumed before it ever reached its full and final potential.
The word "Feckin" comes from a small town in Ireland that Dave and Gabrielle, Dave's wife, frequented in the 1970's. The pubs in the town of Feckin were where Dave thought up the name for his Irish inspired brewery. Dave brewed a small batch of what would become his first Feckin Pale Ale in the town of Feckin way back in 1976. Feckin is not a vulgar word in Irish parlance, but rather is used as a friendly term of endearment between friends. Feckin Irish Brewing Co. stands proudly behind the town of Feckin and all the great people and friends we met while there.
Dave and Gabrielle Maher immigrated with their family to Portland, Oregon in 1989. Gabrielle kept her Irish heritage strong by opening up Portland's Irish Dance Academy that won multiple awards during its 20 years in operation. In 2009, Dave and Gabrielle opened up Maher's Irish Pub in Lake Oswego, OR. Old man Maher could not wait to starting brewing again, he and son, Mark, picked up right where Dave left off under the brand name Feckin Irish Brewing Co in 2011. The Feckin Ales he created in the 1970's in the Irish town of Feckin were the basis for the ales they still brew today in Oregon City, OR.
