Hours: Year Round
That same year George Meyer returned home from five years of service as a Crew Chief on a Ch-46 Sea Knight Helicopter. With both gentleman home and working together, the farm was sure to take an interesting turn.
George came out to work one day and decided to get organized. It had been years since the tools and equipment had been cataloged. While taking inventory he came across a rather large box. Inside it he found a wine kit. He went to his dad and asked him what it was doing in the welding shop. His dad Charles told him that he had bought it for fun, but never got around to using it.
If you know George, he was going to either put the kit to use or get rid of it. Luckily he decided to try it out. He ordered the grapes online and within a month he had his first 15 gallon barrel of Cabernet Sauvignon. To his and his families surprise it turned out pretty good!
This sparked an interest with George. He decided to go back to school and enroll in the Enology program at Fresno State, (Go Bulldogs!) If his friends in Paso Robles could make wine, why couldn't he? George studied hard and received some great advice from a wine maker in Paso Robles (Jerry De Angelis). George and Jerry shared the same views in working with grapes.
