About Us:
In 1988, third generation farmer Chris Collins, his wife, Mary, and their, son Billy started Fair Weather Acres. Fair Weather Acres began as a wholesale vegetable grower selling about 30 acres of peppers to local markets. After a few years of success, the three decided to grow their passion, green beans. Chris, Mary, and Billy built the business from the ground up selling at farmers' markets and grocery stores throughout New England.
In 1997, Fair Weather Acres moved to Cromwell Avenue in Rocky Hill. The new property provided the Collins family with opportunities to expand. Chris and Billy headed the wholesale end of business, while Mary managed their new farm stand. Fair Weather Acres now grows a plethora of items, from delicious tomatoes to beautiful hanging plants.
In January 2010, Chris passed away, leaving his son Billy to carry on the family tradition. Chris' determination, work ethic, and love of farming will continue on with another generation of young farmers; Andrew and Shaun Collins are determined to make their grandpa proud.
