About:
In 1983, Chip and Sally Ellms moved to the farm in Charlton and began planting Christmas trees in 1984. As the demand for a choose and cut operation grew over the years, the farm was expanded by acquiring fields from the Palmer family. In the year 2000 the dairy farm on the north side of Charlton Road, without the cows, was purchased from Bernie and Shirley Palmer. Now the entire Ellms Family farm is over 200 acres.
The Ellms family was fortunate to start with three generations in 1983 and now has its fourth generation. Bud Ellms, Chip’s father, took care of the trees for many years until he passed away in April 2007. Over time Bud, Chip, Sally, and children, Sasha, Ashley, and Garth, worked together doing tasks needed to provide an invaluable family experience. Spouses Josh and Dan, have added their expertise and grandchildren Aven, Calla, Ryah, Atli, Harper, Kinley, and Clover can be found “helping” as well.
After going away for school and jobs, all three grown children have now returned to the farm to help in some way. Sasha lends a hand by offering new and interactive ways to expand the farm with age appropriate activities while her husband, Josh, shares his creative computer skills as a game designer. Ashley is always ready to pitch in with the managerial part of the farm, as well as, making sure the farm is in good shape for guests. Her husband, Dan, has great ideas to make for a smooth and efficient operation. Between the two families and seven children ranging from 2 to 13 years old the quality control works well! Garth started by hosting significant events on the farm and continues to do that as Vice President of Townsquare Active, a division of Townsquare Media that he created, which now hosts over 150 events across the country. As Chip and Sally look ahead to slowing down, Garth has great interest in taking over the farm some day so that Ellms Family Farm can continue to provide an enriching family experience for years to come.
