About Us:
Founded in 1980, Dance Theatre Coalition (DTC) is a non-profit arts organization based in Salt Lake City. DTC is a multidisciplinary arts presenter. For many years DTC served as an umbrella organization for local independent performing artists by helping them to produce and present their works locally.
In 200$, DTC expanded its programming dramatically to serve artists working in all mediums of contemporary performance and visual art through presentation and exhibition opportunities, professional development programs, residencies and workshops that support the creation of new work. DTC concentrates its attention on artists that are pushing the boundaries of their mediums through topic and form. We have a special interest in creating and supporting interdisciplinary projects that promote dialogue among diverse disciplines within the art community and invite participation from various fields of study that are traditionally perceived as "outside" the artistic realm such as science, industry, design, psychology and agriculture. DTC aims to be the voice of progressive independent art in a conservative community.
DTC is committed to developing relationships with art communities outside the Salt Lake City area by hosting visiting artists to perform and teach here. We also support national touring of our local artists because we understand how critical it is for artists to gain experience and exposure outside of their home base. Through this type of exchange we can inspire and influence our local artists as we introduce the Salt Lake City to new communities outside of our state and expose our audiences to new types of work they may not otherwise have a chance to experience.
