Gaal Shepherd, an artist who had a long and successful show at the Cooler Gallery when it was owned and operated by Matte Coombs, decided to reopen the gallery almost as soon as Mr. Coombs closed it. At the urging of Matt Bucy (the Tip Top Media & Arts Building's owner) and Michael Penning, the manager of the earlier gallery, she decided it was time to broaden her horizons.

Shepherd had shown for almost 30 years in over 80 shows, so she thought she would introduce to the area some of the delightfully talented artists she had met over the years. And, since she had been asked for decades, "Where on EARTH did you find that?", she felt the Upper Valley was ready for her to scout out their "perfect things."
