Cooke House

1415 Columbus Avenue
Sandusky, OH 44870

419-627-0640

Formerly the home of Eleutherus Cooke, this 1840's stone and brick home was moved to its current location in 1874. Sandusky's first lawyer, Cooke was also a politician serving in the Ohio Legislature and U.S. Congress.

The three-story mansion features a large first floor living room and spacious kitchen. The second floor contains bedrooms including the master bedroom, walk-through closet, and master bathroom. The third floor is closed to the public. The home is restored to its 1950's appearance, but contains several interesting pieces of antique furniture from the nineteenth century. The yard is beautifully landscaped. Exhibits on the history of the house are in the basement.

In 1995, Estelle M. Dorn contributed the house to the Ohio Historical Society.
