Company founder, Cathy Connor, opened the doors on Market Street for business in the early Spring of 2005. Formerly she had run a successful gallery/frameshop, Arté Gallery, in Newburyport's popular Tannery Marketplace.
Her background as an artist and student of art history, lends itself ideally to the task of tasteful design, so necessary in the creation of art, and the many ways to display it.
As the former business grew, with the help of her husband, Richard Summers, they began looking for a new location to move the business. Together, they purchased the early 19th century Federalist building at 48 Market Street, Newburyport, in February of 2005.
So began Connor Summers Gallery.
Richard came to the business as a full time partner in the winter 0f 2008/2009, after retiring from the printing industry. He brought with him an in depth understanding of composition and layout design, and a strong sense for project management and customer service.
More jack-of-all-trades than artist, he learned the basics of custom picture framing quickly and became the mechanical sidekick needed for Cathy to more fully devote her time to her own art, and the business of finding an audience for contemporary artists in general.
In addition to fine art and our framing service, we offer hanging and installation services, and creative design for both print and website platforms.
