Mission:
As an integral part of The College of Wooster, the primary mission of The College of Wooster Art Museum (CWAM) is to support and enhance the College’s goals of teaching, research, service, and global engagement through exhibitions, scholarship, and collection preservation.

Vision:
The CWAM acts as a catalyst for creative engagement between students, staff, and faculty by promoting campus-wide collaborations and interdisciplinary dialogue.

History:
Although a museum program has been active at Wooster since the late 1800s in various forms, its location and mission have evolved and changed since the inception of the College's first art gallery in the 1930s. In 1994, the firm of Kliment Halsband Architects, New York, NY, was commissioned to renovate the Severance Art Building and to design an addition for The College of Wooster Art Museum. Opened in 1997, this addition was constructed adjacent to the north facade of the former Severance Art Building, which currently houses the Department of Art and Art History. The entire art history, studio art, and art museum complex was renamed the Ebert Art Center. The College of Wooster Art Museum's two galleries, the Sussel Gallery and the Burton D. Morgan Gallery, are located on the first floor of the Ebert Art Center addition. The College of Wooster Art Museum’s permanent collection includes materials that range in date from antiquity to the present day. The largest single collection, The John Taylor Arms Print Collection, was given to the College by Ward M. and Mariam C. Canaday in 1968.
