About Us:

Founder Luke Smith and business partner Scott Procop set out with a common goal. To provide uniquely hand crafted ales and lagers for craft beer enthusiasts. A necessity for Coda Brewing Co. is premier service and a connection to patrons on a personal level. Coda sources the absolute highest quality of ingredients to concoct 10 barrel batches down to their experimental elixir series. Ingredients like hibiscus sourced in Senegal, Africa was brought over in a kick drum and added to a taproom staple to create a seasonal favorite, Kick Drum - Hibiscus Wit.

As a former yeast microbiologist and translational research scientist, Luke's passion is designing each individual beer with a unique water profile and yeast strain with hosting a title of "Fermentation Scientist". His range includes fruit beers, sours and double IPAs. Some say he has reinvented fruit beer and broken common stereotypes of the style. Sleepyhead Passionfruit Imperial Kolsch took home a silver medal at the 2014 GABF. New and experimental hop varieties are always on his radar and in the beer. Since 2008, the goal was the same. Tap into the last sense that beer is not known for... Hearing. Smith, guitar player and vocalist in the Golden band The Lookout Mountain Boys, began crafting beers in his barn for musicians and those who enjoy music. Today, he is collaborating with musicians from all over the world and will begin releasing these beers this summer. The first collaboration is with a reggae band from New Zealand called The Black Seeds. The Black Seeds Lager was made with all New Zealand hops and will be tapped in September. The second collaboration is with a local band called Indigent Row. Luke and frontman, Liam O'Beirne sat down and derived a robust imperial Irish whiskey oak-aged stout. To complete the Coda concept, Indigent Row played on the Coda stage and the beer was tapped simultaneously. When the music and beer reaches its end, this is the Coda Experience. Don't be surprised when the head brewer gets up on stage and sits in with the band as he has done with every performance thus far. Want to take a shot at it yourself? Show up on Tuesday for Open Mic night.
