The course has bent grass greens and a blue grass mix for the fairways and teeboxes. The layout is designed around rolling hills, wetlands and Clear Lake. Some of the signature holes are #4, #7 and #10. Hole #4 has an elevated tee and has a drivable green that is protected by water. Hole #7 is considered by many as the toughest on the course. The second shot is a blind shot into the bowl. Hole #10 wraps around the northeast corner of Clear Lake providing a beautiful view.

Comstock, Michigan resident and veteran designer, Jeff Gorney has a solid reputation for desiging several beautiful Michigan golf courses, Gorney opened his design business in 1988 after more than 15 years working on the maintenance side of the industry. His first project was a nine-hole addition to what is now Clear Lake Golf Club.
