Our Story

Founded in 1934, Chateau Ste. Michelle is the oldest winery in Washington state with some of the most mature vineyards in the Columbia Valley. The winery combines an ongoing dedication to research with a commitment to classic winemaking traditions and is best known for award-winning Riesling, Chardonnay, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Led by winemaker Bob Bertheau, Chateau Ste. Michelle's portfolio includes Columbia Valley wines styled to bring out the varietal character of the region; Single Vineyard wines that epitomize the terroir of the estate vineyards; Ethos, the ultimate winemaker expression; and Artist Series, a Bordeaux-style blend crafted for power and longevity.
