Centennial Sportsplex

Nashville, TN 37203

The Centennial Sportsplex is middle Tennessee's ultimate fitness, recreation, and sports complex—a $20-million, 145,000 square-foot year-round family center for ice skating, fitness, swimming, and tennis. Within 17 acres, you find the Aquatics Center, Fitness Center, Tennis Center, and the Ice Arenas. Each facility offers something special for everyone, including a wide variety of programs, clinics, and lessons to help you get fit, stay fit, and have fun doing so. The Centennial Sportsplex is proud to be the home of the NHL Nashville Predators professional hockey team. The Centennial Sportsplex has hosted exciting national events such as the US Senior and Junior National Swim Meets, the YMCA National Swim Meet, the US Water Polo Olympic Trials, the US Figure Skating Championships, the Virginia Slims Tennis Championships, and the USTA Women's Challenger.

The idea of Centennial Sportsplex emerged back in October of 1987. The Metro Government of Nashville and Davidson County Parks and Recreation acquired the 10 acres where the Sportsplex now stands during a land exchange between the City of Nashville and Hospital Corporations of America (HCA). In February 1990, the Centennial Sportsplex opened its doors to fanfare. From 1998 through the beginning of 1999, the NHL Nashville Predators Team negotiated a deal to locate their team practice facility at the Centennial Sportsplex. They added a second sheet of ice to the existing ice arena along with a state of the art training facility. The new additions opened in February 1999. Later that year, the Les Speyer family donated $1.2 million to build a four-court indoor tennis facility in honor of Ruthelia Lott Buchi, a dedicated member of the Metro Park Board from 1980 to 1990.

In June 2014, Metro Parks built a new, two-story fitness and tennis complex, having demolished the old Tennis Center offices. The new facility has an indoor running track, group and cardio exercise rooms, a strength-training room, and new locker rooms.
