In 1902 Nicola and Francine Bommarito immigrated to this country through Ellis Island from a small town of Terrissini, Sicily. Settled in the city of St. Louis, MO, Nicola used his skills as a carpenter to contribute to the growth of the city, Frannie opened up a grocery store and sold pasta to the neighborhood. Prohibition began and the climate of the times changed, so the family started creating wine in the basement of Grandma Bommarito's house, the " Whiskey" came later. Wine and whiskey were provided to the locals and businesses in the area. After prohibition they went back to their trade skills and continue to build many residential areas in the suburbs of St. Louis. And so the story begins,

The Bommarito Family has had a hand in developing the city of St. Louis from the early 1900's till now. Each branch of the Bommarito's has become synonymous with the city itself. Since the early 1950's our family has touched many lives in St. Louis, and we continue to support St. Louis and what it has to offer. In 1994 The Bommarito Family, aquired 21 acres of land in the heart of Missouri Wine Country, and so it began..

In 1995, Nick and his daughter Cathleen started planting Norton grapes in the plot behind the house. In the following years, the family increased the vineyard with additional plantings of Norton, St. Vincent, Vignole, Chambourcin, and Vidal Blanc. With a new addition of Valvan Muscat in the Spring of 2012. Totaling 9.5 acres at present. In late 2012 the Norton patch behind the house was taken out with the intention of replanting in the spring 2013.
