Blossom Trails Golf Club history begins in the late 1950's with the Graber Family when they asked Bruce Matthews to design and create a golf course on what used to be just farm and field. It began with a 9-hole regulation, 9-hole Par-3 course and driving range that was opened in 1958. By 1961, Benton Harbor saw the completion of the back 9-hole regulation course giving “The Trails” a full 27-holes of golf enjoyment to the community. The Graber’s wanting Blossom Trails Golf Club to be more, went on to add lights to the Par-3 course and Driving Range in 1963. The course was sold in 1970 to Golf Professional Gaylon "Tex" Simon and his wife, Aurora, who operated it until 1986. Family friends of Tex and Aurora, Tim and Jo Ann Smith bought the course from the Simon’s when illness struck and as Tex asked, have continued to keep The Trails accessible to the average income family. Blossom Trails Golf Club has served families in the Benton Harbor and surrounding areas now for over 50 years!
Southwest Michigan hosts many golf courses but Blossom Trails is one of the only that has an environment that is friendly to the whole family. "Our goal is to keep the sport of golf available to the average income family", says Tim Smith, "We believe a family that plays together, stays together." The regulation 18-hole course provides a challenge to an experienced golfer but is still enjoyable for a beginner. The Par-3 course is a great place to perfect your short game or for friends and families to come together for an afternoon of golfing fun. The practice range, sand trap and putting greens allow fine tuning for any level player's game.
