BLACK BARN Winery is a small family owned winery located inside a renovated tobacco barn nestled in 40 acres of horse farm in Lexington, Kentucky less than 4 miles from the KY Horse Park.
BLACK BARN Winery was conceived by Collin Boyd and is home to fine national award winning dry red wine blends crafted in Kentucky.
At BLACK BARN Winery, Collin concentrates on crafting one wine per year - a full bodied wine made with grapes brought fresh to the winery from California. Crushing & de-stemming take place immediately upon the grape's arrival. Collin blends the wines from three varietals after aging the wines separately. BLACK BARN wines are aged at least 2 years; first, in Minnesota "medium+toast" oak barrels, purchased from Kelvin Cooperage, Louisville, Kentucky. Collin removes the wine from the barrels when just the right amount of oak aging has been achieved, and places it in Italian steel vats to complete the aging process. Finally, Collin bottles and corks, then caps the bottles with tin capsules to ensure longevity.
