Big Spring Event and Activities Center

Our Mission:

The Big Spring Event & Activities Center is a facility available for community use. We offer a wide variety of programs and events for all ages. Rooms in the facility are available for rent. We also offer a Fitness Center located on the lower level of the building.

History:

This building located at 2 Chestnut Street in Newville was built in 1943. The facility was called Memorial Hall of the American Legion and was used as a recreation center; convention hall, and contained a bowling alley on the lower level. In 1979, U-Wan-A Wash Frocks Inc. purchased the property and operated a dress factory on the site. In 1989, the building was purchased by the Borough of Newville. Over the years, community events and activities have been offered through this facility. New owners, Don & Laura Witter of Cedar Ridge Investments LLC took possession of the building in January of 2011.
