Our Mission
The regional history of Northern Kentucky as part of the Ohio Valley must be preserved for the benefit of present & future generations. Therefore, the Behringer-Crawford Museum is a center for the collection, presentation, study and enjoyment of our natural, cultural, and visual and performing arts heritage.
History:
This is the historic Behringer-Crawford Museum, the intersection of a variety of historical threads, fields of study and regional cultures. Within one estate, the lives of local individuals past and present mingle in the collection where century-old folk art works are juxtaposed with exciting new exhibits and fun displays.
And this fall a new addition featuring regional history through the unique lens of transportation will begin opening. From walking paths to Interstate Highways, we will cover transportation history from all directions and how through transportation we came to be the great region we are today! And also by this fall, see the fully restored 19th Century trolley car, the Kentucky (pictured to the left), on display, with the full exhibits opening coming in early 2007!
Experience the institution that depicts the ravages of the Civil War, the upheaval of the Ice Age, and the heroism of the Underground Railroad.
The Museum's collection includes, minerals, fossils, and American Indian artifacts. We house a 19th century exhibit as well as Ohio River memorabilia. There are also gallery displays of regional artwork. All of this underscores the Museum's focus on regional history and cultural. The BCM has become a gathering place for the community with events like freshART, Fireworks, and Musicat BCM.
