OUR STORY

Our first vintage at Barons was 2001 and since day one we have been dedicated to producing world class, premium wines from the finest vineyards in Washington state. We are committed to the classic red and white grape varietals of Bordeaux, and strive to make the best expressions of them possible.

Today, Barons’ state of the art winery and barrel aging facility is located in the heart of Walla Walla, Washington. The vineyards are located in the dry, desert lands of the great Columbia Valley. Barons’ longtime relationships with storied vineyards affords us the finest grapes Washington has to offer and we take great pride in the wines we produce from them. Delicious upon release, each wine is crafted with balance and ample acidity to age gracefully with a fine polish.

VINEYARDS

All great wines are made first in the vineyard. You cannot make world class wine with less than world class fruit. With that in mind, we select specific plots in special vineyards; we lease them, and they are farmed for us in accordance with our viticultural direction. We value vine age, and have some of the oldest vines in Washington producing grapes for our wines. We also value altitude, and exposure in our vineyards, as they encourage quick drainage and produce grapes with balanced acidity. We utilize Vertical Shoot Positioning, as it encourages even ripening, free flow of winds, and allows for consistent canopy management. We seek to be good stewards of the soils and vines that give us our fruit, so that they will continue to give us our world class fruit in the future.
