Barbarian Brewing

About Us:

Barbarian Brewing is a new barrel house opening in Garden City, Idaho in 2015. Our mission is to create delicious, complex, artisan ales using fresh Northwest ingredients, sourcing locally as much as possible. Our handcrafted ales are inspired by old world traditions but our creativity won't be limited by style guidelines.

Barbarian is founded and operated by husband and wife duo, James Long and Bre Hovley.  As Head Brewer, James will create Belgian and European style Sour Ales, Imperial Ales, and a variety of other beers that will require 2-18 months of aging time in oak barrels or stainless steel vessels.  We're hoping to have a small tasting room to serve our aged bottled beers, our mainstream beers on tap, and local wines by the glass.

Barbarian Brewing Sour Program:

We will utilize a light and dark sour base that will be aged in different barrels; some with fruit, some with without. Each barrel will be evaluated for quality and flavor. Some barrels will be used for blending, while the occasional outstanding batch will be bottled unblended. A majority of the sour beers will be bottled and offered to our yearly club members and then sold in our tasting room.
