Backward Flag Brewing Company

Our story starts like most. A life changing experience with the introduction to drinking craft beer and quickly after was the desire to learn how to brew it.

In 2007 we were introduced to brewing by a homebrewing friend. He was not only passionate about making beer but he also wanted to teach others, we were happy to be his students. The first beer we ever brewed was a clone of Stone's Smoked Porter. We added extra smoke. It was terrible.

That first batch stoked the fire for learning how to make great beer. We immediately went out and bought every gadget and brewing book we could afford and started our obsessive journey into all grain brewing. Our military commitments frequently took us away from our brewing equipment but we always had our books and the dream of one day opening a brewery where we could share our passion with others.
