About Us:

Open: November - April

My First Angel, my wife Laureen, and our mutual love of wines were our inspiration for pursuing Angel Vine. We came to Oregon in 1997 to find land to grow wine grapes and began our development of Three Angels Vineyard in 2001. Three Angels Vineyard, named for Laureen and our daughters Alex and Morgan, is located in Oregon's Eola-Amity Hills. We removed most of an old cherry orchard inundated with Himalayan blackberries, planted our property with Pinot Noir vines, and eventually established a special vineyard. However, the urge to start a winery and our draw to Zinfandel remained.

Washington has a long history of growing hot climate winegrapes but Zinfandel has been planted in only a handful of vineyards (State reports show only 62 acres of Zinfandel are planted!). When the opportunity to purchase some Walla Walla grown Zinfandel arose in 2006, the game was on. A plan was set in motion to blaze a new trail and produce Zinfandel and Primitivo wines sourced from premier Washington vineyards. After much research we've located a selection of Washington grapegrowers who have both a passion for Zinfandel and sites capable of growing superior fruit. At harvest, the grapes are picked early in the morning and immediately brought to the winery. We handcraft our wines using modern viticulture practices combined with traditional winemaking techniques in Carlton, OR.

The notoriety from winning 5 medals at the San Francisco Chronicle & Dallas Morning News wine competitions brought a challenge we didn't anticipate. Another winery claimed a trademark dispute and challenged our use of the brand name, Three Angels. After accepting advice from legal counsel and a review of the economic considerations, we decided the best alternative was to change our brand name. It was a struggle, similar to renaming your child, but we ultimately wanted to keep as much of our identity as possible. Before long we decided our new name would be Angel Vine. The name has changed but our products and the people behind them have only been bettered.
