WV Governor's Race: Hear From The Candidates In Their Own Words
AARP has a long history of non-partisan voter education and engagement, providing voters with information on the voting process as well as where the candidates stand on issues, so they can make informed decisions on Election Day.
That's why we've been proud to support three broadcast forums and debates during this year's West Virginia Primary Election cycle, focused on the open Gubernatorial seat that will be decided in November's 2024 General Election.
Last December, AARP West Virginia joined with West Virginia MetroNews to host a roundtable discussion among three of the leading candidates for the Republican nomination for Governor. You can watch that event here.
In early April, Nexstar Media Group stations WOWK-TV, WBOY-TV, WTRF-TV, WVNS-TV and WDVM-TV hosted a statewide broadcast forum featuring the top four candidates for the Republican gubernatorial nomination, as determined by an Emerson College/Nexstar Media Group poll of West Virginia voters. AARP West Virginia was also a sponsor of that statewide election forum, which you can view here.
On Tuesday, April 30, Republican gubernatorial candidates Moore Capito, Chris Miller, Patrick Morrisey and Mac Warner participated in a live debate hosted by WSAZ-TV and broadcast on Gray Television stations across the Mountain State. AARP West Virginia was proud to be a sponsor of this event, which provided yet another opportunity for voters to learn more about the candidates. You can watch video of that event here.
AARP ensures that our Members and all voters 50-plus know where, when, and how to vote, publishing online election guides for all 50 states, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, focused on providing accurate and up-to-date information.
