Volunteers Deliver Postcard Pay Off

Posted on 01/02/24

At AARP, we never underestimate the power of 50+ voters. In fact, 1.8 million Washington voters over 50 cast ballots in the 2022 elections. In early April, we thought we were being ambitious when we ordered 10,000 postcards to distribute to volunteers for personalized messages to drive the older vote.

We should have known you would show up in force. Our volunteers across the state have taken pen to paper and filled out more than 9,000 postcards with personal messages to encourage our membership to vote this November.

From group gatherings to kitchen table klatches and solo sojourns in home offices, your efforts have amazed us.

With some voters feeling frustrated and doubting the importance of their vote, your hand-written messages could make all of the difference.

Thank you so much for joining us in this important endeavor to motivate older voters and remind them that they play a pivotal role in the outcome of elections!
