Tele-Town Hall Protect Yourself from Identity Theft

Posted on 04/26/23

No one wants to be a victim of identity theft. AARP Arkansas shares that one of the best ways to protect yourself from identity theft is to shred confidential papers such as medical records, credit card and bank statements and old tax documents. That is just one of the reasons why AARP Arkansas is focused on Fraud Awareness in May.

On Wednesday, May 3, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., AARP Arkansas will host a tele-town hall that is free and open to the public. They will be joined by the Arkansas Attorney General’s Office and a fraud expert from the AARP Fraud Watch Network. To register for this event, go to https://vekeo.com/event/aarparkansas-82852/. To pre-submit fraud related questions email ar@aarp.org. The tele-town hall will broadcast on Facebook live at Facebook.com/AARPArkansas.

Each Spring and Fall, AARP Arkansas brings Shred Fests to our state. These free events offer registrants an opportunity to shred up to three boxes of documents per car. Shredding will take place on-site, rain or shine.

AARP Arkansas’ next Shred Fest event will occur Saturday, May 6, 2023, from 8 a.m. to noon, 1701 Centerview Drive, Little Rock. Follow the signs from Shackleford across from the Heart Hospital. A second Shred Fest will occur on Saturday, May 20, 2023, from 8 a.m. to noon, at St Thomas Episcopal Church, 2898 S. 48th St., Springdale, located on the corner of Watkins and 48th across from the Randall Tyson Recreational Complex. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged for both events to speed up service time. Register at states.aarp.org/arkansas or by calling 1-877-926-8300.
