Senator Gerald Boudreaux Named AARP Louisiana Legislator of the Year
Senator Gerald Boudreaux, representing Senate District 24 has received the prestigious AARP Legislator of the Year Award for his unwavering commitment to enhancing the quality of life for Louisiana’s older citizens during the 2023 legislative session.
Senator Boudreaux’s advocacy played a pivotal role in the successful passage of Senate Bill 39, a landmark piece of legislation designed to expand services and shrink the registry of 8,000 individuals waiting to receive services in the comfort of their own homes.
Denise Bottcher, state director of AARP Louisiana, expressed her admiration for Senator Boudreaux’s dedication, stating, “We are honored to present Senator Boudreaux with the 2023 Legislator of the Year Award for his commitment to improving the lives of older Louisianans.
“We are grateful for Senator Boudreaux’s leadership throughout the 2023 legislative session. The passage of SB 39 is a major milestone for seniors, and it will go a long way toward funding for HCBS options. This is crucial as the population of older adults expands over the next decade,” said Andrew Muhl, AARP Louisiana advocacy director.
Senator Boudreaux was honored at an award ceremony on Monday, Nov. 27, at the AARP Lafayette Chapter 3629, located at 110 North East Evangeline Thruway.
