"Pocketbook Conversations" with Iowa Candidates for U.S. Senate and House

Posted on 09/19/22

As the November midterm election draws near, Iowa voters are eager to hear where candidates stand on important policy issues, especially those that impact their pocketbooks and financial stability.

AARP Iowa worked with the Democratic and Republican candidates in all four Congressional districts and the race for U.S. Senate to provide direct-to-camera, unedited responses to two key questions:

  • “Will you take action to update Social Security so it is financially sound and provides adequate income for current and future generations?”
  • “In these inflationary times, what will you do to help ensure Iowa’s retirees are able to keep more of their hard-earned money and are financially secure?”

Voters from across Iowa and the political spectrum filmed themselves asking these two questions of the candidates as part of AARP Iowa’s Pocketbook Conversations video series. See below the videos for U.S. Senate and U.S. House.

Those interested in learning more about this issue or getting involved with AARP’s efforts to ensure Social Security is sound for generations to come are encouraged to sign up and join AARP Iowa’s coalition, “Iowans for Securing Social Security.
