Meeting the Mayors
AARP Indiana was excited to Meet the Mayors June 5.
Local volunteers and staff attended the Indy Chamber’s Meet the Mayors event at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway June 5. It featured many of Central Indiana’s municipal leaders.
“Our team is looking forward to the opportunity,” Director of Outreach Addison Pollock said. “We’re excited to network and listen in on bipartisan panel of executive branch leaders from 10 Central Indiana cities, including Beech Grove, Carmel, Franklin, Greenwood, Indianapolis, Lawrence, Noblesville, Shelbyville, Westfield, and Zionsville.”
AARP Indiana was a presenting sponsor of the event, and State Director Sarah Waddle provided welcoming remarks addressing the work done by the region’s leaders to improve livability.
“ We need more communities that fit the vision of a livable community,” Waddle said. “This type of community enhances personal independence, allows residents to age in place, where they want to be, and engages people of all ages in an area’s civic, economic, and social life.”
Livable communities are more important than ever.
As the population ages and Hoosiers stay healthy and active longer, they are going to expect these types of places in which to live, work, and play.
In addition to welcoming remarks, AARP Indiana volunteers hosted a display table sharing AARP Livable Communities resources on housing, transportation, and more.
