Learn How to Protect Yourself at Louisville Scam Jam
AARP Kentucky will host a free four-hour Scam Jam in the Louisville area on Thursday, June 15, to give Kentuckians tools to help spot and avoid scams.
The event will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at The Jeffersonian, 10617 Taylorsville Road, Jeffersontown. Invited speakers include staff from the Kentucky Office of the Attorney General, Kentuckiana Regional Planning & Development Agency and U.S. Department of Justice. Topics will include identity theft, investment fraud, cybercrime and mail fraud.

Elder abuse takes many forms, including -financial exploitation. Cybercrime targeting older adults has risen at a particularly alarming rate, according to the FBI. In 2021, Kentucky residents 60 and older lost nearly $12.8 million to cybercrime—a 215 percent increase from 2020, FBI data shows.
