Las Cruces Chapter Hosts Information Session on Medicare Open Enrollment
Wondering how to navigate Medicare’s Open Enrollment? The AARP New Mexico Las Cruces Chapter invites you to join an informational presentation on all things Open Enrollment to help you navigate the process. A representative from SHIP (the State Health Insurance Assistance Plan) will talk about how you can prepare for Medicare Open Enrollment and what changes you can make.
The event is part of the Chapter’s general meeting, Wednesday, Oct. 18, from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church’s Fellowship Hall. It is free and open to the public.
Each year Medicare holds an open enrollment period from Oct. 15 to Dec. 7. Open enrollment is a reminder to review your coverage to be sure your health and prescription drug plans are meeting your needs. This is the one time of year when everyone with Medicare can make changes to their health and drug coverage for next year.
Here are some things to consider:
· Your current cost and benefits may change. Review any notices from your current plan about changes for next year.
· Are there changes to your network of providers, pharmacies, drug costs, deductibles or co-pays?
· Have you had changes to your health or medications?
Come to the meeting and hear what changes you can make and how to make those changes. You’ll learn how to use the Medicare website. www.medicare.gov , to compare plans, where to contact the most trusted resources and how to avoid scams.
