Join the ABCs of ADUs in Ohio Webinar, October 24
Accessory dwelling units (ADUs) are an affordable housing option that benefits all ages and communities. City planners, architects and builders are invited to join our webinar on Tuesday, Oct. 24 at 1 p.m. to learn more about ADUs from experts and how AARP Ohio is working with municipalities across the state to pass ADU ordinances.
Additionally, we welcome the 50+ community, family caregivers, and those who are interested in learning about what ADUs about the benefits of ADUs and how municipalities have addressed permitting the construction of ADUs in their communities.
AARP will provide free resources to help with the adoption, passage, development, and use of accessory dwelling units. Resources such as local model legislation to help municipalities, a step-by-step guide to design and develop ADUs for architects and builders, and for homeowners, a multi-award-winning guide filled with information and best-practices guide for how communities can include ADUs in their mix of housing options.
The webinar includes a presentation from ECONortwest and Orange Splot on what an accessory dwelling unit (ADU) is and its benefits. Following this will be a moderated panel interview of municipalities that have addressed permitting the construction of ADUs in their communities. Speakers include the city of Cincinnati and the city of Dayton. Both will share their journey to permitting the construction of ADUs, the community’s receptivity to ADUs, the interest and response to building ADUs.
